The Experience
Your day starts with a check-in at the Nottinghamshire water sports centre, where you will meet your qualified instructor and the rest of your rafting crew. Before heading down to the water, you will attend a detailed safety briefing that covers essential paddling techniques, body positioning, and safety commands. You will also get fitted with all the standard kit, including a wetsuit, buoyancy aid, and helmet, ensuring you are fully prepared for the session ahead.
Once you are geared up, you will make your way to the water and board your raft. You will begin on a calmer stretch of water to get used to the equipment, test your steering, and practice synchronising your strokes with the rest of the team. As you navigate towards the main white water section, the current speeds up and the water grows noticeably rougher.
You will then tackle the course, steering through fast surges, sharp bends, and churning rapids. The water moves quickly, so staying upright and on track requires quick reactions and solid teamwork from everyone on board. As waves splash over the sides, you will rely heavily on your instructor’s commands to guide the raft through each section safely. You will complete several runs down the course throughout the experience, allowing you to try different lines and get a real feel for how the raft responds in heavy water.
After finishing your final run down the rapids, you will paddle the raft over to the exit point, head off the river, and return your kit at the changing facilities.

Important Information
Participants must be confident in open water and able to swim.
All participants must be 14 years old. If any members of the party are under 18 years of age a parental consent form must be completed and brought with you on the day.
All participants must weigh less than 114kg / 18 stone (chest size 122cm / 48 inch)
Please note if you book on as an individual there is a possibility that you may be put in a two man ducky, this is subject to rafting numbers and group sizes.

The Weather
White Water Rafting can be weather dependant, and in extreme circumstances where rafting is effected we would endeavour to contact all participants prior to arrival on site.
Session length
Your rafting experience will be approximately 1 hr 45mins, Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled rafting time.
Numbers
There will be a maximum of eight people in your raft plus your guide.
Spectator
The National Water Sports Centre is located in 270 acres of county park, with nature reserves and plenty of things for spectator to see.
What To Wear
The hire of wetsuits and all safety equipment is included in the cost of your experience, however you should not wish to wear them we recommend that you wear a long sleeved top with full length trousers. NO SHORTS, JEANS or T-SHIRTS. Lace up footwear is essential and will get wet, so bring spare footwear. Changing facilities and showers are available.
Availability
Rafting is 7 days a week throughout the summer, starting in March, where available. Any dates not available will be due to Governing Body events or training.
